It is widely believed that informed consent must be obtained from a patient for it to be morally permissible to administer to him/her a medical intervention. The same has been argued for the use of neurocorrectives administered to criminal offenders for the purpose of criminal rehabilitation. In the talk, I will argue that both absolute and moderate defenses of a consent requirement for neurocorrectives are much less persuasive than they first appear. However, I will then argue that a defense of a consent requirement could plausibly be established by looking at how criminal justice systems currently employ certain neurocorrectives.
