Topic:Self-ambiguity: A phenomenon distinct from alienation, (in)authenticity and ambivalence

There has been a surge of publications targeting various instances of self-ambiguity, such as self-illness ambiguity (Jeppson 2022), self-medication ambiguity (Dings & De Haan 2022) and self-implant ambiguity (Cabrera & Bluhm 2022). However, the more general concept of self-ambiguity that many of these authors seem to (implicitly) rely on remains to be elucidated (cf. Schechtman 2022). In this talk I aim to do just that. The main upshot of this is that it will illuminate the novelty of self-ambiguity: that is, that it refers to an hitherto neglected phenomenon that differs from cases of alienation, (in)authenticity and ambivalence.
